BayNVC - Bay Area Nonviolent Communication
Scholarship Policy
Purpose:
BayNVC's scholarship policy has been developed to:
- Provide sustainability for BayNVC so we can continue to bring forth the consciousness of interdependence in the world in which we live.
- Let the BayNVC staff have the resources necessary to provide a high level of support for trainers and participants.
- Provide BayNVC trainers sufficient economic sustainability given the amount of energy, effort, and prior training they bring into their work.
- Allow the participants who are enrolling to have a satisfying classroom experience.
Minimum number of participants:
We intend to hold programs, classes, workshops, and retreats only if a minimum number of people paying within the scale are enrolled. The minimum number varies with each event.
General Scholarship Information:
- Until the minimum number of people are enrolled, we plan to put anyone wishing to pay below scale on a wait list.
- We plan to advise people receiving scholarship in a timely manner if we have sufficient enrollment to make their attendance possible.
- For people requesting scholarships and needing to make plane reservations, we plan to process requests in time for participants to make travel arrangements.
- Because we continue to want to make our events accessible to people, we plan to hold a minimum of 10% of the available spaces for scholarships.
- We plan to put individuals who can make some financial contribution towards the class ahead of people who need full scholarships. We ask each person to hold the needs of BayNVC as well as their own when considering how much money to give to BayNVC.
Scholarships for Classes and Workshops:
We need a minimum number of paying people to make any class or workshop financially viable. (The minimum number for most classes at BayNVC is six people.) Once a minimum number of people are enrolled within the scale, we plan to open enrollment up for scholarships.
Scholarships for Retreats and Programs
- The scholarships for retreats and programs are offered in a manner similar to the scholarships for classes. The difference is in the minimum number of people and in the number of people overall to whom we make scholarships available.
- We are not offering scholarships for room or board except in extraordinary circumstances to be decided between the main trainer, Dorrit, and Carol.
Individual Sessions
Individual sessions are available with a number of local NVC practitioners. (See Reconciliation
and Coaching for Couples and Individuals). We request a financial contribution
on a sliding scale of $85-$170 per hour. If you would like to schedule an individual
session, and cannot contribute this amount, contact the BayNVC office 510-433-0700
or nvc@baynvc.org, and we will explore options,
including referring you to members and graduates of the BayNVC Leadership Program.
