BayNVC - Bay Area Nonviolent Communication
Services for Organizations and Groups:
Facilitation
In collaboration with organizational leaders, our staff provides meeting
facilitation in the areas of trust building, collaborative decision-making,
staff retreats, and resolving live conflicts within an organization.
The facilitator supports everyone in achieving clarity about what's
important to them and articulating it; hearing and connecting with what's
important to others; and finding ways of focusing on outcomes and decisions
that support everyone and the organization as a whole. Underneath polarized
opinions and stances, group members often find needs and values that are common.
Those shared values provide the foundation for transforming conflicts, confusion,
or uncertainty into creative strategies that address all needs.
"I called BayNVC to facilitate a workshop to help the nursing and
ancillary staff work through the tremendous despair and hopelessness
we were experiencing in our working environment. I was praying for
a miracle, and that is exactly what we got! During the workshop you
could feel the layers of resistance peel off and feel the longing for
acceptance and connection with one another. My hope is that we can
incorporate more of NVC into other areas of the hospital in need for
peaceful resolution."
- Kathy Giannini, registered nurse
"I enjoyed two first-hand experiences of Miki Kashtan of BayNVC facilitating international conferences using principles of Nonviolent Communication. The first was the Third Global Summit for Ministries and Departments of Peace, held in Kisarazu, Japan, in September 2007 and attended by more than 50 people from 20 countries on six continents. The second was the First Summit of the African Alliance for Peace in Accra, Ghana, in May 2008 and attended by more than 20 people from five African
countries. In both cases, Miki's facilitation kept the process flowing. Almost miraculously, she made sure that we covered all the topics laid out in the agenda while affording sufficient time for divergent views to be expressed and heard and, using principles of NVC and consent decision-making, for
convergence on decisions acceptable to all."
- Michael Abkin, Ph.D., director of organizational development and operations
