| 7:00pm-9:00pm | |
Restorative Circles offer a way through which communities can compassionately handle conflicts, heal from these conflicts, and learn what conflicts have to teach us. Restorative Circles were developed by Dominic Barter in Brazil. His work has been informed by his experience in the Restorative Justice movement and his exploration of NVC. Restorative Circles have been used with exciting results in Brazilian schools and Brazil's juvenile justice system. For more information about Restorative Circles see http://www.restorativecircles.org. In this drop-in practice group we will explore Restorative Circles using the Semi-Simulated Circle exercise. Each week we will work with a live conflict of one the group’s participants. Other group members will step into the roles of Author, Receiver or conflict community member, as needed. This group is intended for people interested in facilitating Restorative Circles. It is also our hope that this practice group will develop into a community of support for each other as we look to bring Restorative Circles to our respective communities. This is an opportunity for us to co-learn together. Gail began studying with Dominic Barter in 2007. Itzel began studying with Dominic Barter in 2009. Begins January 14th and ends on March 25th, 2010 Requested Experience: An introductory workshop with Dominic Barter, or a 30 minute conversation with Gail or Itzel. For additional information, please contact Itzel at itzel@baynvc.org |
