Living Undefendedly:
A Retreat for Women with Miki Kashtan

Friday, July 9, 2010  -  Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Opening Circle at 4 pm on Friday. Ends after lunch on Wednesday.

An Invitation from Miki Kashtan:

This retreat is an invitation to release the shields we wear to protect ourselves, and to make ourselves available to life in each moment. I am inviting women from anywhere in the world to come and learn about presence and aliveness. Together we will explore and practice:

• Befriending our experience, so we can be present in each moment
• Embracing our vulnerability, so we can recognize the humanity of all we are
• Strengthening our sense of connection, so we can transcend the illusion of separation
• Cultivating acceptance so we can release expectations of ourselves and of life

My intention is to support a dedicated group of women in increasing courage, living fully, and creating community together for mutual liberation.

Here’s some of the content I anticipate including in this retreat:

• Focus on interdependence and exploration of living consciously in community
• Individualized coaching, empathy, and other support for deepening skills and consciousness
• Practices such as my sister Inbal Kashtan's self-integration and Body NVC processes
• Opportunities for practice with self and others
• Advanced training in expression skills such as providing feedback, expression for connection, and making requests
• Support for women who want to focus on undefended living as part of sharing NVC with others
• Daily empathy groups
• Focus on creating daily practices for yourself to support integration and deepening after the retreat

I was transformed by this retreat beyond my wildest imagination. The gift I experienced is absolutely priceless. It's the gift of now having full access to myself, and being able to show up as my (authentic) self with others. I'm convinced that this gift will not only make my own life more beautiful, but will contribute to making the lives of many other people more beautiful, too.

Conscious of the economic conditions, we will keep a waiting list of people who want to attend for only part of the time, and open it up if we don’t have sufficient full-time registrants. Please let us know at register@baynvc.org that you would like this option, and we will let you know close to the event if we have spots available (note: we will want you to be there at the beginning and leave early, rather than join later, for cohesion and ease for the group).

Requested Experience:(from Miki) My dream is for a group of experienced women to come and play together deeply. Ideally, you will have had training in NVC basics and a few months of ongoing practice. However, if you are called to be with us, and have at least 8 hours of NVC training, we are open to your joining us. The focus of this retreat is on living NVC, however, not on practicing basic skills.

You can gain the requested experience by participating in BayNVC trainings,

OR by taking teleclasses or other trainings through nvcacademy.com
Location:Ben Lomond, CA, Quaker Retreat Center, in the redwood forest of the Santa Cruz Mountains
Trainer(s):Miki Kashtan
Requested Contribution:Please note, there are 2 sets of expenses calculated separately: Basic Retreat Expenses (which includes your accommodations and meals, plus a share of the overall cost of the retreat, such as the meeting space) and Tuition

Basic Retreat Expenses: $650 private room (not guaranteed/very limited availability); $525 each for a room shared with one or two other women; $375 each for camping.

Note: We ask for a deposit equal to the cost of your Basic Retreat Expenses to reserve your spot. This can be done using a payment plan.

Your meals will be prepared according to your preferences. If you share a room with another retreat participant whom you do not already know, we will match you with a compatible roommate according to your preferences, such as whether you are an early riser or whether you like to stay up late, etc.

Tuition: $600-$1200 sliding scale. Payment plans and partial scholarships are available.

Late Registration Fees
When participants register later than 2 weeks before the retreat, we experience more challenge in managing the many details related to creating a retreat (such as planning your meals and accommodations according to your preferences) so we request additional payment to address the extra work involved. If we do not receive your Basic Retreat Expenses deposit or payment plan by June 25th, we request an additional $50 as a registration processing fee; and if we do not receive your deposit or payment plan by July 2nd, we request an additional $100 registration processing fee.

Contact:For participants who will be flying in, the nearest major airport is San Jose, which is an approximate 1 hour drive to the retreat center; the San Francisco and Oakland airports are both an approximate 1-1/2 hour drive. We will help retreat participants find rides with one another to the retreat.
