Practice at all levels of skill with empathy, role plays and coaching.
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Description:
Do you long to have the quality of connection you want with your children? Yearn to parent in ways you feel truly good about? Join us in exploring how to:
* Parent with deep compassion, care and empowerment for yourself and for your children
* Shift from a paradigm of demands, rewards and consequences -- to a paradigm of self-responsibility, connection, trust, mutual support and interdependence
* Avoid "power struggles" and increase your awareness and choice about your reactions to your children
* Contribute to nurturing a generation of people with the skills to make peace
Time: 7:15pm - 9:15pm Description:
A weekly practice group for folks with all levels of experience, with a minimum of an intro or having read the book. Monthly themes. Pre-registration and sliding scale donation requested. Get information about the current theme by emailing katydawson@sbcglobal.net.
Time: 7:00pm - 9:30pm Description:
Requested contribution: $25-50
(Please read all of this before you come the first time) I welcome all skill levels. Usually about 4-10 folks attend so there s plenty of time for personalized coaching. Those who are more versed at NVC get pointers on a higher level of colloquial, more natural sounding NVC, while those who are newer get more tips on the four step model. We find that everyone gets something from everyone, no matter what their skill level. I know for myself I learn best by modeling and teaching; doing this helps me remember to access NVC when my buttons are pushed and it really counts!
My practice group is half an hour longer than others because I like to foster community connection by having 3-5 minute check-ins for each person. After check-ins we use 1 or 2 people's real life issue to practice giving and receiving empathy. We also do role-plays to practice NVC. After we work together as a group,we pair off into one-on-one empathy sessions. There's usually a lot of laughter, sometimes tears. Most feel very safe and cared for. We end with short check-outs and a closing circle with 3 Ohm s (meditative chant).
LENDING LIBRARY: I bring many of the materials the Center of Nonviolent Communications has published to each session. These include books, pamphlets, videotapes, DVDs and CDs. You are welcome to borrow them if you are confident you ll return to the group.
DETAILS ABOUT REQUESTED CONTRIBUTION: I ask that those who are financially more well off pay at the high end of the scale so I can make this work available to those who are less so (and still sustain myself while doing this work). Please pay what you would joyfully contribute when you consider both your value for spreading NVC and also for your finances. I don't want anyone not to come because of money issues.
I invite you to drop in and see what you think! :-) I've been studying NVC for 11 years and teaching it and using it as a mediator for 9; please let me know if you'd like testimonials or references.

Would you like to know more about this potent blend of restorative justice and nonviolent communication principles?
Restorative Justice offers ways to establish connection, discover meaning and recover power on profound levels. It brings together groups and communities to develop sustainable forms of developing agreement and increasing safety for all through responsibility and inclusion.
During recent decades the collective experience of RJ practitioners and insights from indigenous practices have helped reveal recurrent dynamics that can support those seeking healing and constructive action after painful conflict to reach deeper levels of personal transformation and community building.
This tele-class series will present the model of Restorative Circles developed by Dominic Barter for the Brazilian Justice and Education systems. Making profound use of Nonviolent Communication the Circles connect those separated by conflict and support them in reaching agreed action.
Using a step-by-step process, we will learn how Restorative Circles function in social structures such as schools, families, businesses, communities and justice systems. Participants will be invited to apply their learning to personally meaningful contexts in their lives.
Through dynamic exploration of the key concepts that underlie this model, we will discover how closed ideas loosen and human motives behind painful choices emerge in the shared power of the Circle.
Class meets: March 18 and 25; April 8, 15, 22, 29; May 13, 20; June 3, 10, 17.
Time: 8.30am Pacific, 11:30am Eastern, 12:30pm Rio, 3:30pm London, 4:30pm Paris, 9pm Delhi

Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Description:
Introductory Evenings are lively explorations of the basic principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a language and consciousness of compassion that can dramatically improve all of our relationships, from personal to professional. Live modeling demonstrates how the NVC process can be used in a wide variety of real-life situations. Participants have the option of using situations from their own lives as they practice.
We hope that people with more experience in the NVC process will bring your friends.

Time: 8:30am - 9:45am Description:
PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE LISTEN ONLY OPTION.
First class is 90 mins long: all other classes are 75 minutes in length-14 class hours total. Participants limited to 12. Sliding scale $375-750 US.
*UK residents are welcome to pay into a UK account. To register, email martina.cavicchi@gmail.com.
All proceeds support Dominic Barter to take time to create materials for learning this work. Observers are welcome to join the call and pay whatever they would like to contribute.

(Skips July 3rd.)
Interested in communication tools that promote connection in times of conflict? Want to increase your capacity for clear expression and empathic listening? Longing for more inner peace and less struggle? Join this 8-week series to explore the basics of nonviolent communication, aka compassionate communication, and to have an opportunity to learn and practice it with a trained practitioner.
Two books are required: Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Compassion, and Lucy Leu's Nonviolent Communication
Workbook - both available at a reduced cost at the first class.
While there are no prerequisites to attend this class, we encourage you to attend an introductory workshop or read the first 8 chapters of
Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. We also welcome those with some prior knowledge of NVC who wish to experience a more structured learning of the fundamentals of NVC.
Class format varies, and includes instruction, individual work, small group and large group practice. Most of the learning is experiential and draws on examples from participants lives.
What Past Participants have said about this series:
"The NVC Foundations I class has been an opportunity to make NVC [come] alive, and I have been able to deepen my practice and learn the initial steps for learning this new language. I have applied this knowledge in the groups I lead, my clients, my children and my family; and have seen relationships enriched because of it."
"The practice sessions will give you a strong grounding in the basics of NVC. Don' t skimp on the homework. Don' t miss a single exercise. Every exercise has the ability to take you deeper into the practice and understanding of NVC. The work transforms at a very core level."
"The Basics group has given me a transformative perspective on the
possibility of shifting my allegiance from the violent, punishing model
I tried to grow up in, to a world view I can breathe and be supported within as a real, honest expression of life force."
"The class has been a critical support and inspiration to apply NVC in my life. The thoughts and experiences shared by the group members have helped me to deepen my learning and practice. Great sense of community."
